Fixing spelling with AWB

Hello. I would think that you, an editor with well over 100K edits, would know by now to be more alert when using AWB; links to external sites should not be changed alongside other AWB fixes like that. Titles should not, either, because the title of a citation should be a duplicate of the title of the original source. Thanks. And if you are wondering what page I am talking about, see this. --HXL's Roundtable, and Record 23:45, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Typo regex error

Hi - your edit to add "Hilary Clinton" to the AWB typo list caused an error when AWB tried to load it, with a message of "not enough )'s". As I'm not an expert on Regex, I've reverted the change - feel free to replace it with the correct syntax. —  Tivedshambo  (t/c) 16:57, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Also, any addition should not be flagged as minor. -- JHunterJ (talk) 18:16, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Delinking United States templates

I noticed you have been delinking United states in a lot of templates. Before I start reverting them I wanted to ask you what the reasoning was because I have seen several that I do not agree with you delinking action on. --Kumioko (talk) 18:06, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Because I think that this delinking will have some longlasting and ill effects I opened up a discussion on the Village pump. to get some input from other users about this. Maybe its just me but I think this is probably not a good thing to do. --Kumioko (talk) 18:13, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
This delinking is in line with the MoS (see WP:OVERLINK), and has also been raised at WT:STUB and WT:WSS, originally by me before I started this delinking, and very recently by an admin who wished to confirm that there were no objections. There were no objections. Colonies Chris (talk) 00:50, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Kumioko, apart from the style guide's discouragement of such low-value links, what exactly do you see as the purpose of linking whole country articles such as UK, US, Australia, Canada? Tony (talk) 01:12, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

I'm not here to complain about removing links but I have a question. I've read most of the discussions on overlinking and removing common terms. The understanding I got was that links, wherever possible, should be optimised by providing a more relevant target. I noticed that you had done this. I was wondering if it would not be a better idea to do this instead? It would seem to me that it provides a more relevant target and might possibly cut down the complaints about delinking. Cheers. It was at the bottom of the template. But the main thing is I did have the correct understanding about the links. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 22:15, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Could well be duplication. It's been a long while since I looked at the list. I usually only bother with extant airlines. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 22:26, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Careful

missed the leading bracket. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 02:11, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for spotting that. Colonies Chris (talk) 10:27, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
